The European International Model United Nations (TEIMUN Foundation) is a student organisation which aims to educate students about the United Nations. The foundation organises several conferences and participates in several other conferences and workshops to meet this goal. The highlight every year is the annual TEIMUN conference, which takes place every July. It is a seven day conference and will this year be held from the 5th till the 11th of July in The Hague. During this conference around 240 students from all over the world have the opportunity to experience the workings and decision-making process of the United Nations and NATO through role-playing in one of the simulated organs. It helps participants to gain a multilateral view of world affairs and to develop their public speaking and debating skills. The TEIMUN foundation also organises a one-day MUN in the city of Groningen to get students acquainted with the MUN concept. It is held in the city of Groningen in the north of The Netherlands. The conference will this year probably take place on the 15th of March 2010. Considering GrunnMUN is a only a one day simulation it is primarily for students from the University of Groningen. Nevertheless, university students from other cities in The Netherlands or International students are also more than welcome to participate. For more information, please see our GrunnMUN section.
This year, the TEIMUN Foundation also helped to organize the week of the milleniumgoals. This was a tour in the Netherlands, organized by NCDO, Move your world and EEN to promote the knowledge about, and the complicity with the Millenium development goals among adolescents and students. The tour started at the 16th of october 2009 and was held every day in another city in the Netherlands. On the 23th it took place in Groningen and this day was partly organized by the Teimun foundation. There were: a playful yet interesting information market, workshops and a party in Huize Maas to close the day. For more information, please mail to info@teimun.org.
