Rishi Raithatha

Rishi Raithatha is 24 years old and is currently reading an MA in International Relations and International Organisations at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, in the Netherlands. Prior to that, he read a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. His academic interests have focussed mainly on the economic development of Sub-Saharan Africa, the evolution of post-colonial states and governments in Africa, the political involvement of ethnic minorities in East Africa and the current situation in the Great Lakes Region, where he lived for a number of years – despite being a native Londoner. Aside from his degree, Rishi’s hobbies include travelling, reading and go-karting.
Having been introduced to the concept of Model UN relatively recently, Rishi has participated in a number of conferences. As a delegate, he represented the Republic of the Congo at TEIMUN 2007 and BIMUN 2007 (Bonn International MUN) and Senegal at OXIMUN 2007 (Oxford International MUN). As a member of staff, he was Head Chair of the UNEP at LIMUN (London International MUN) 2008, Co-Chair of ECOSOC at TEIMUN 2008 and Chair of the Security Council at TEIMUN 2009. Rishi also served as Secretary-General at LIMUN 2009.
